MINDS ON MIC: Guest Lecture Series of MBA Business Analytics, DSE

“Good teaching is more a giving of right questions than a giving of right answers” – Josef Albers

I vividly recall the brainstorming sessions during the foundation meetings of the Corporate Relations Team, where we initiated the ‘Minds on Mic’ guest lecture series. The core objective of this initiative was to enhance campus-corporate engagement and provide a platform for students to learn from leaders in the Management and Analytics space. The guest lectures from esteemed industry leaders who have reached the pinnacle of corporate success are a true goldmine for us. Listing the evident benefits, we gain insights into current industry practices and identify skill gaps that need to be addressed to add value in the corporate world. Additionally, we expand our knowledge on specialized topics, learn about emerging roles due to technological disruption, and understand the importance of fundamental soft skills like agility and adaptability required to sustain in the industry.

Apart from all the mentioned learnings, there is one more impactful element that a platform like guest lectures adds. Looking at it from a macro perspective, an MBA student has a packed schedule, constantly running against deadlines every other day, and before we know it, it’s the end of the semester. Guest lectures have the potential to mold students’ mindsets and instill ideas that can change paradigms for the better, helping students acknowledge facts they once believed to be difficult or unachievable. Quoting Napoleon Hill – “What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Spending time with leaders allows us to substantially learn from their broad vision, graceful and confident demeanour, and exclusive expertise. Interacting with leaders who consistently turn obstacles into opportunities and navigate their way towards growth plays a pivotal role in students’ lives.

As the flagbearers of ‘Minds on Mic,’ we feel immensely fortunate to have hosted leaders from diverse domains who added great value to our cohort of MBA Business Analytics.
